Ch-ch-changes at 1905!
Well it’s been a busy few months, and those of you that frequent our cafe may have noticed that we’re no longer serving our famous 1905 coffee at our Northbridge location.
We’re pleased to say that the catering side of our business has taken off in a big way! To help us create fresh, healthy, delicious food, we’ve dedicated our entire Northbridge premises to catering. This means we’ll be bigger and better than ever, and able to give you the fantastic catering you know and love.
Still need your 1905 coffee fix? Fear not! Get down to the newly re-opened Balcatta Recycling Centre, and visit our onsite baristas, who are ready and waiting to make you your perfect cuppa – and maybe pick up a bargain or two while you’re there!
Thank you to everyone who has supported us at Northbridge over the past few years, and to the new customers we’re looking forward to meeting at Balcatta!
Great coffee, delicious catering, creating opportunities – all in a day’s work at 1905!
Catch you on the flip side!

Through our business, we are able to assist many people with disability or mental illness to achieve their goals. Whether they are to grow and develop at work, to improve life skills and independence, or to increase connections with the community, 1905 is here to create the opportunities they need.
When Monique joined our team in 2015 as a Kitchen Hand, she saw an opportunity to develop her work skills and take steps towards her personal goals.
‘I’m working two days a week at 1905, and have been saving my money, because I’d like to go on holidays to America and visit my Aunty. This job is giving me money to save and travel.
‘When I get better, I can learn how to do harder things. For now I’m cleaning, dishwashing, wiping and clearing tables, and bringing people their food.’
Since starting with us, Monique’s confidence has grown, her life has become more stable, and she has a will to learn new skills and form new friendships.

Darryl had been struggling to find employment on his own. His learning disability and past drug addiction, were barriers to employment.
Then, Darryl found work at 1905. Throughout his time here, Darryl has worked hard to learn and improve his skills – especially as a barista, which is his passion.
We rely heavily on Darryl, not only for his fantastic coffee, but also for the many other jobs he does. Darryl assists with food preparation, customer service, and delivering catering orders.
When asked how he thinks his job has affected his life, Darryl commented that his confidence has sky-rocketed, and he is now able to talk to people from all walks of life. He feels that having this job has grounded him and made him take responsibility in other areas of his life. He now has his own car, a lease on a flat, and a great relationship with his daughter.
Darryl also enjoys passing on his knowledge to his colleagues, helping them to learn how to make great coffee.
